America found spoken word throught the lens of HBO's Def Poetry. Debuting in 2002, Def Poetry presents singers, rappers and poets whose common medium is oral prose. While rising talents are a mainstay, important cultural figures including appearances by poet Black Ice, comedian Dave Chappelle and recording artist Alicia Keys.
